Hallo zusammen!
Literally, Pantoffelheld means “slipper hero”: Pantoffel means “slipper” and Held means “hero.” The expression has been around for centuries and jokingly describes a man who may appear confident or powerful outside the home, but at home, his partner is clearly the boss. The Pantoffel represents the domestic sphere, while Held is used ironically. He might be a hero out in the world, but once the slippers are on, things look a little different.

Dirk: Das ist nicht dein Ernst.
Stefan: Ich schwör's dir ⍟. Sie hat eine Liste am Kühlschrank. Punkt vier lautet: „Stefan, leg deine Socken nicht auf den Boden."
Dirk: Ich finde es gerade ein bisschen absurd, dass du mit mir darüber sprichst, aber okay. Und du hältst dich immer an die Regeln?
Stefan: Natürlich. Immer. Keine Widerrede ⍟.
Dirk: Warum benimmst du dich denn zu Hause so anders?
Stefan: Zu Hause fehlt mir das Sakko. Ohne Sakko bin ich nichts.

⍟ ein ganz anderes Gesicht – A natural spoken expression used to describe a side of someone’s personality that is completely different from the one others normally see, widely usable whenever someone reveals a surprising contrast between their public and private self. ⍟ an dieser Stelle – A spoken phrase used to mark a specific point in a conversation or situation where the speaker decides to stop, step back, or draw a line, wider in use than simply “here” and carrying a sense of deliberate, considered closure. (English: “at this point” or “right here” or “I’m going to stop you there”, literal: “at this place”)
B) Translation 🔄
Stefan: So, Dirk, we've known each other as colleagues for quite a while now. You know me here as head of department… But at home I'm a completely different person.
Dirk: What do you mean by that? And why are you telling me this?
Stefan: At home, my wife calls the shots. Always. The other day I called from the supermarket because I didn't know whether to buy the 3.5% or 1.5% fat yoghurt…
Dirk: You can't be serious.
Stefan: I swear to you. She has a list on the fridge. Point four reads: "Stefan, don't leave your socks on the floor."
Dirk: I find it slightly absurd that you're telling me this, but okay. And you always follow the rules?
Stefan: Of course. Always. No argument.
Dirk: Why do you act so differently at home?
Stefan: At home I don't have the jacket. Without the jacket I'm nothing.
Dirk: Okay, I think I'm going to end the conversation right here.
